The late Professor Collie took a life-long interest in George Borrow and was one of the founders of the George Borrow Society. With Sir Angus Fraser he wrote the definitive bibliography of Borrow.
George Borrow Eccentric was published to mark Borrow’s first centenary of 1981, and tells the life of George Borrow in an approachable but scholarly way. It is important as the first major biography based on original research to appear since 1956.
